The Bellows Falls Animation Festival is a celebration of animated films. It's the brainchild of two friends, Carley and Sam, who just wanted to see some of their favorite anime films on the big screen. It has quickly morphed into something more.
In 2023, we're centering the festival around a showcase of four classic Studio Ghibli anime films. One film will be screened each Wednesday in July.
Our hope is to make this an annual event, one that celebrates animation in all genres.
Each Wednesday in July 2023, we will screen a different Studio Ghibli film at the Bellows Falls Opera House. Check out our Event Info page for details on each movie, which day it is screening, and more.
For the 2023 Festival, we are partnering with the Opera House's Classic Film Wednesdays program. For each film, pay at the door or online for the regular admission price of just $6 -- that's right!
And you can further support the Opera House by purchasing concessions for an equally incredible price. Visit https://www.bellowsfallsoperahouse.com/ to learn more and to purchase admission tickets and concession online.
Our 2023 program is a Studio Ghibli Showcase. We are putting together plans for 2024 and hope to feature a range of animated films.
We need volunteers! Visit our Volunteer page for details on how to volunteer for the festival.
And of course, we need donations to cover the costs of the film licensing, programs, and website. Click the Donate button and help us showcase innovative, exciting animation!
Yes, we do! Check out our store page to buy a T-shirt that you can rock at one of the Wednesday night films.
Yes! We're holding a knit-in during June and July to create your own Studio Ghibli-themed knitwear. We've linked to a page of selected patterns that we'll be working on. Of course, you can pick a pattern from somewhere else, too--we'd love to see the finished knit piece at the event!
